Some of the challenges facing the existing irrigation system are water wastage, poor performance, and high cost of implementation. The system integrated Arduino UNO with a soil moisture sensor, HCSR04 ultrasonic sensor, and ESP8266 Wi-Fi module that gives the system capable of being controlled remotely via the internet, thus achieving optimal irrigation using the internet of things (IoT).

In this paper, a cost-effective internet of things irrigation system that is capable of reducing water wastage, manual labor, monitoring tank water level and that can be controlled remotely is designed. Over time, the dry season has always been challenging with little or no rainfall and there are no irrigation facilities that incorporate different saving practices to adapt to these climate changes on their own. It was the most practiced occupation in Nigeria and this formed the backbone of the economy in the early 1960s before the discovery of crude oil, which has led to the derail of sufficient food production, exportation, and the agricultural economy at large. Span>Agriculture plays a significant role in the development of a nation and provides the main source of food production, income, and employment to nations.

This paper delivers a vision on the amalgamation of deploying sensors and connecting the farmers to the Work presents a smart agriculture monitoring system which monitors overall parameters for high precision cropĬontrol. Sustainability, quality and most importantly a user friendly interface which can even be handled in remote areas. The crop growth, availability of moisture in the soil, status of the soil, etc alongside the unpredictable environmentĪround, IoT plays a crucial role in bridging the difficulties and bringing a novel solutions involving cost-effectiveness, By assisting farmers with essential equipment to predict To the emerging technologies around the globe, agriculture has become a major part which should now rely upon theĪdvancements to keep the requirements of humans matched. The experimentation, reveals that the proposed system performs quite well on our own collected dataset and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur crop dataset. To make the system robust and adaptive, an inbuilt feedback mechanism is added to this recommendation system. The gathered data are forwarded and stored in a cloud-based server, which applies ML approaches to analyze data and suggest irrigation to the farmer. IoT devices are deployed in the crop field to precisely collect the ground and environmental details. In this study, an IoT enabled ML-trained recommendation system is proposed for efficient water usage with the nominal intervention of farmers. The era of machine learning (ML) and the Internet of Things (IoT) brings it is a great advantage of building an intelligent system that performs this task automatically with minimal human effort. To reduce the wasting of water for this tedious task, an intelligent irrigation system is urgently needed. In the traditional irrigation process, a huge amount of water consumption is required which leads to water wastage. This system will be more useful in areas where there is scarcity of water and will be worth efficient with satisfying its requirements. The farmer is notified with the information regarding field condition through mobile periodically. The irrigation will be automated when the moisture and temperature of the field is reduced. The data received from sensors are sent to server database using wireless transmission. Sensor is used to take sensor reading of soil like soil moisture, temperature, air moisture and decision making is controlled by user (farmer) by using microcontroller. The objective of this paper is aiming to overcome this challenge, the whole system is micro control based and can be operated from remote location through wireless transmission so there is no need to concern about irrigation timing as per crop or soil condition.
IOT plays an important role in many fields, one of that is Agriculture by which it can feed billions of people on Earth in future. Internet of Things (IoT) is a milestone in the evolution of technology. So the irrigation is used in agriculture field. In our country, agriculture depends on the monsoons which are not sufficient source of water. In India, agriculture plays an important role for development in food production.
